How to have an eco-friendly period

By Milly Vincent
In honour of International Women's Day we explore eco-friendly period protection.
Coined 'green menstruation' the idea of periods without environmental consequence is nothing new. Every year an estimated 12 billion sanitary pads and 7 billion tampons with masses of chemicals are dumped into landfill. Environmentally-aware women across the world have looked for alternatives for years but were often left having to compromise with less effective protection.
Thankfully this is 2018 and we've come a long way, here are your effective alternatives.

With almost the same use as a tampon the cup is a favourite for many. For a small investment of around £10 you can save yourself £2-3 a month for the rest of your menstruating life. If that is another 30 years then you could save up to £1080.
